Our friends over at LowYat.NET reported that the Google Nexus 4 by LG phone they?ve received for review appears to be running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, a build that has not been made available anywhere yet.
Another report from Brazilian site Adrenaline seems to be corroborating this as they?ve also obtained images of the Nexus 4 with the same Android, Baseband and Kernel versions. On the post also mentioned that manufacturing of the Nexus 4 begins in their country on January 11th, two days ago.
Google has yet to announce this release of this minor update and with that, obviously the changelog is not available for us to know what exactly this 0.0.1 increment brings. Suspiciously, both LowYat.NET and Adrenaline?s images did not reveal the Build Number of the Nexus 4 running Android 4.2.2. LowYat.NET also uploaded a video for a quick walkthrough on the ?About phone? page which also suspiciously did not show the Build Number.
If anything, I believe that 4.2.2 they?ve got on the phone is the real deal and not a ?build.prop? edit. After all, the video was taken down and the baseband number blurred after they?ve received a take down request (possibly by LG, not Google). The device LowYat.NET has is the 8GB SKU not officially sold here in Malaysia, and could very well be a developer device.
Hopefully version 4.2.2 will bring many bug fixes not only to Nexus 4, but other Nexus devices as well. My Galaxy Nexus has got a taste of 4.2 for just a week, but it was so displeasingly laggy and full of bugs I?ve reverted back to 4.1.2 for a better peace of mind. Hopefully this mysterious build is that magic update I?ve been waiting for.
On the brighter note, Adrenaline also mentioned that the Nexus 4 may be sold there for R$1,500 (RM2,114), which is way higher than what it?s going for here, RM1,649.
