And what's great is that the latest big casting scramble has already begun. Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is largely made up of sequels featuring actors who we have seen play their respective parts before, but the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy is a whole new ballgame. There are five main heroes in the sci-fi action flick and the search has already begun to find the team's leader: Star Lord. Last week it was revealed that a number of actors have already agreed to test for part, and now one of them is speaking out about it.
Lee Pace, who was mentioned alongside the likes of Joel Edgerton, Jack Huston, Jim Sturgess, and Eddie Redmayne in the initial report, recently spoke with MTV and not only revealed when he plans to go in to read for Star Lord, but also his personal excitement about the project. "I go in on Monday to meet them all and audition for it, so wish me luck," Pace told the reporter. "I'm very excited about it. The script is great. The character is a lot of fun." He added that he's been reading up about the character recently ("You want to know what you're doing," he said) and that's he's looking forward to the audition. You can watch the short interview below.
Guardians of the Galaxy is being directed by James Gunn and is already scheduled to be released on August 1, 2014 (the last solo Marvel movie to be out before The Avengers 2). For all the latest news and updates about the new movie, be sure to head over to our Blend Film Database.
