Last we heard, the Dumb and Dumber sequel was going to shoot sometime this summer after Jeff Daniels is done with his obligations for HBO's The Newsroom, but that's no longer the case. Production has been put off until next year.
"Jeff and I are really excited about [Dumb and Dumber To] and hopefully next year we'll be able to do that [and] get it together," Carrey told Access Hollywood at the premiere of The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.
"Hopefully" is not a word one would use if something is already set in stone, so maybe not everything is worked out yet, like the movie's budget.
Peter Farrelly confirmed as much when he told EW this in January: "It's not a firm greenlight yet because there are still negotiations happening, but that's what we'd like to do next. We have a script that's really, really fun."
Carrey briefly backed out of the movie last year when his frustration with New Line, who apparently wasn't happy with the script, boiled over.
The sequel will supposedly take place 20 years after the events of the first movie and part of the movie may involve Harry and Lloyd trying to track down one of their children.
